Definitely not a hammer drill....diamond core bits aren't designed to be used with hammer drills.

Just wondering if that is a regular hand-drill you're using, or a hammer-drill, or something else? Also, is that a diamond core bit, or some other kind of cutting bit? Thanks

Good stuff, cheers for posting that. I was cutting holes in some silkstone tiles the other week and they were so fragile and soft that I ended up turning the core bit by hand!. If you used a drill and it snagged then the tile just shattered. Mind you it was so soft that it only took about a minute to cut through. I'm always happy when I see that taps, etc. have a cover plate because then you can just cut a square hole from behind with an angle grinder. If our customers only knew eh? :-)

in general- a good tip. some audio sure would have been nice... i sometimes use a somewhat similar method to cut various other tile/marble that i can't get get to with my wet-saw. use a plain old angle grinder with a masonry wheel and have someone hold water supply from whatever angle you can make work best... obviously not for big jobs- but hey- it works. |
